Jeon depicts in her work Waterlilies the humanitarian issue of the separation of families from North and South Korea, which personally has affected her family. Similarly, the separation of migrant families at the US border where children are taken away from their parents is a recent theme in her work. In addition, Jeon uses the cloud motif popular in Asian paintings to portray strong storms that represent the reality of global warming and the climate crisis. Finally, Jeon is part of the movement to empower and educate people with endometriosis as an advocate for women’s health issues.
