ARTIST AND ENDOMETRIOSIS ADVOCATE
Kyung Jeon is a main figure in a documentary film titled Below the Belt about endometriosis and the social justice issues surrounding the disease, directed and produced by award-winning Endometriosis Advocate Shannon Cohn of Endo What? She is also one of the subjects interviewed for the book The Doctor Will See You Now by Tamer Seckin, MD., an Endometriosis Specialist.
PAINTER AND TEACHING ARTIST
Kyung Jeon-Miranda is a Brooklyn-based artist known for her vibrant paintings that explore themes of identity, motherhood, and social justice. Drawing from personal experiences, her work reflects a deep commitment to storytelling and advocacy, blending whimsical imagery with thought-provoking narratives. With a passion for using art to spark awareness and change, Kyung’s practice highlights the intersections between creativity, lived experience, and cultural dialogue.
In 2025, Kyung completed the Teaching Artist Project and is teaching superhero and comic book-making workshops for students, focusing on empowerment through creative storytelling.
DESIGNER AND DIRECTOR
Jeon is also recognized as a web designer, and has worked on various projects such as NY art galleries, high schools and universities, and not for profit organizations. She is the Business and Projects Director of the creative services studio, Somos Arte Studios Inc., which she runs with her partner Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez. Also known by her married name, Kyung Jeon-Miranda, she created the La Borinquena Grant Awards as a response to the devastation of Hurricane Maria which hit Puerto Rico in September 2017. To date, the La Borinqueña Grant Awards has awarded $200,000 in grants to grassroots organizations based in Puerto Rico from the funds generated by her partner’s benefit anthology graphic novel titled Ricanstruction: Reminiscing & Rebuilding Puerto Rico.
