Day 2 of 5 DAY FACEBOOK ART CHALLENGE.
I haven't looked at these old paintings in soo long. They went out into the world, and stayed out there somewhere. I have to admit I am enjoying this art challenge much more than I thought I would.
I painted this thinking of korean scroll-like paintings.
, 2003, gouache, watercolor, graphite on rice paper on canvas, 40 x 19.5 inches
This is the first time I ever painted with gouache. It was in Skowhegan Art Residency
when Joanne Greenbaum asked if I ever used gouache before. I hadn't, and she gave me 3 tubes of gouache to experiment with. Very grateful to her, as it has become my medium of choice for many years.
, 2003, Gouache, watercolor, graphite on rice paper on canvas, 27.875 x 22.375 inches
I don't know how these images floated through my head, but luckily I was able to capture it on paper.
